Give Kids a Smile

"We made a difference in the dental health of kids who otherwise would never see a dentist."

This national program sponsored by the American Dental Association serves kids who have little or no access to dental care. This annual one-day event highlights the need for all children to have basic dental care and calls upon the generosity of thousands of volunteers to help make it happen.

Woodbury Dental Care has been supporting the Give Kids A Smile® program since 2002. Each February we join the more than 1,500 dental volunteers who provided free dental care to nearly 6,000 low-income children across the state. We have treated dozens of kids from Garlough Elementary, a West Saint Paul school with a predominantly Hispanic population. Through an interpreter we were able to explain to the children and their parents about the treatment they were receiving and what they needed to do to maintain good dental health.

We made a difference in the dental health of kids who otherwise would never see a dentist. They repaid our hospitality by inviting us all to their school for a wonderful traditional Mexican meal.

The Minnesota Dental Association was proud to coordinate the statewide Give Kids a Smile® effort.
