Tooth lengthening is a common dental procedure that is used to either expose more tooth structure in order to support a crown or filling or to reduce the “gumminess” of a smile. It is often used when a filling or crown has fallen out or when a tooth breaks at the gum line.
At the beginning of the procedure, one of our dentists will administer anesthesia for your comfort. Then, he will gently expose more of the roots of the teeth. In many cases, some gum tissue and/or bone may need to be removed for optimal results. After a thorough cleaning, the dentist will then place the gums in their final position.
